What is Welcome the Rain?

IMG_0373ed.jpg

Welcome the Rain! is a fall event that celebrates our rainy season as well as a family friendly "solutions fair" showing ways to solve some of the challenges stormwater brings to the urban environment.  It is geared to address to the public's growing desire for more information on the topics of downspout disconnection, green streets, and urban stormwater issues.  This year it will be held at Rigler Elementary School 5401 NE Prescott St., Portland, OR on Saturday, September 26th from 10am to 4pm.

There will be a mix of informational booths and non-profits, rain garden and ecoroof specific plants for sale, and companies offering various stormwater/rain harvesting products or services. Free workshops about downspout disconnection, rain gardens, bike commuting in the rain, porous pavement, rain harvesting, and many other topics will be running throughout the day for the adults.  Art and science activities as well as a story teller will be on site for the kids.

Sign up here to recieve information about becoming a vendor/tabler or to get an email reminder as the day approaches.

With any luck it will rain the day of event!
